Joe Heim School of Professional Western Horsemanship

Applications are currently being accepted for students and apprenticeships in the

Joe Heim School of Professional Western Horsemanship. Enrollment is ongoing but limited.

Joe Heim, a World Champion trainer, NCHA Hall of Fame Rider and Triple Crown Champion, AQHA Champion, and NRHA World Champion is known internationally as both a trainer and rider.  Not just a horseman, Joe has the rare ability to teach professional western horsemanship as well as successfully train and show champion horses.  Having conducted numerous clinics all over the world, Joe is now focusing his teaching efforts on those who want to learn to train and show western performance horses professionally.

The Joe Heim School of Professional Western Horsemanship was established primarily to assist those with the passion and desire to pursue a professional career training or working with horses; particularly performance quarter horses. Unlike any other clinic, course, or program offered today, the Joe Heim School of Professional Western Horsemanship is designed for those who want to increase their knowledge of western horsemanship and also learn the professional aspects of breeding, training, and showing. This is an opportunity to ride and truly learn from a successful trainer, breeder, and showman and the only NCHA Triple Crown Champion to ever breed, raise, train, and win riding his own horse.

Students and Apprentices alike learn the professional aspects of training and working with horses hands-on and from the saddle. Tried and true training techniques, skills, and insider information used by Joe and today's top professionals are taught and discussed. If you want to advance your skills or already train horses but would like to learn how to really "finish" a horse or how to identify and develop a horse's individual talents, desires, and abilities, this is your chance to learn from an experienced and successful trainer.

As a student or apprentice you will observe and take part in the day-to-day operations of running a profitable training facility while also learning such things as how to effectively break, train, and "finish" young prospects, prepare horses to be shown, "tune up" horses for aged events, and sale-prep horses.  The importance of professionally establishing and maintaining good client relationships, marketing, accounting, and how to provide daily care and treatment to horses, cattle, and other livestock will also be taught. Special attention will be given to certain areas including breeding, nutrition, saddlery, utilizing proper tack, shoeing, and showmanship.

Programs with affordable tuition are offered for students and student apprentices and a limited number of working student apprenticeships are available throughout the year.  Enrollment includes nicely furnished living quarters with paid untilities and stalls for 1-2 horses.
